All contributions to ATU Insights should be in line with the following instructions

 

Contributors

We welcome original, unsolicited contributions from faculty members, researchers, students, and staff from Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) on topics concerning Iran.

Important Note: Students and alumni are required to submit the following documents together with their essays, images and personal photographs:

For Students: A scanned copy of your student card or a certificate of student enrollment (گواهی اشتغال به تحصیل);

For Alumni: A scanned copy of your degree certificate (دانشنامه یا گواهی فراغت از تحصیل); both temporary and permanent degree certificates are accepted.

How to Contribute?

Currently, all contributions are required to be emailed to international@atu.ac.ir. The contributors are kindly requested to attach the following files to their emails:

1. The essay written in English and saved in .doc or .docx format, double-checked in terms of grammar and terminology, and without any plagiarism;

2. An image which is demonstrative of the essay content and contains no obscenities or culturally-prohibited content;

3. A personal photograph of each contributor, in .jpg or .png format.

 

Length

Contributions are required to contain a total of 1000 to 2000 words.

 

Language

Currently, we only accept contributions in English.

 

How to Cite

The contributions should not contain footnotes. The references that are available on the internet should be hyperlinked and those unavailable should be put in parentheses. The headings and sub-headings should be put in bold and should be left unitalicized. Contributors should avoid longer quotes. Quotes should be put within double inverted commas. If quotes are more than 40 words, they should be put as a separate paragraph, and within a double inverted comma.

 

Font

Contributions must be submitted in MS word format (.doc and .docx) only.

 

Blog Photo

Contributions should include an image or photo that will serve as a banner to be placed on top of the blog. Please see previous blog posts for samples. The photo should be related to the general theme of the essay. The photo should be copyright-free and royalty-free. Equally importantly, the photo should be respectful of and sensitive to others’ political, cultural, and social beliefs. If contributors use an AI-generated image, the photo caption should indicate as such. Contributors must send the link (URL) as to where the image came from. Contributors may search and download royalty-free photos from any legitimate stock media websites, such as Freepik, Pixabay, and others. The submitted image should be horizontal and in a 1200*800 pixels dimention, with a DPI of 72 to 150.

 

Short Bio and Social Media Handles

Contributors are required to send a short bio of about 20 words, including their affiliations. Here is an example:

Example 1: James Smith, PhD Candidate in Public Administration, Faculty of Management and Accounting, Allameh Tabataba’i University.

Example 2: Mary Jones, Faculty Member in Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Allameh Tabataba’i University.

 

Review Process and Publication

All contributions are judged on their merit. All contributions are reviewed by the blog’s editorial team, and if accepted, may be published with editorial corrections or asked to revise it. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. Contributions must be submitted exclusively to ATU Insights. Published contributions may be reposted on other platforms only with the permission of the Editors.

Contributions submitted will be acknowledged. Editorial decision on contributions may take a week to ten days, depending on the number of contributions we receive. If accepted, publication may take up to two weeks. However, priority is given to the contributions that are of immediate relevance.
